Brake Deviation of Forklift Brake Deviation of Forklift

Brake Deviation of Forklift

1. Fault phenomenon

When the forklift is braking, the wheel brakes on both sides of the coaxial wheel cannot act as a brake at the same time; even the phenomenon that one braking wheel is braking and the other braking wheel is still rotating, the machine cannot run in a straight line when braking. One side is skewed.

2. Cause of failure

(1) The wheel hub bearing tightness on both sides of the coaxial wheel is inconsistent or the tire air pressure is inconsistent (too much difference).

(2) The gaps in the wheel brakes on both sides are inconsistent.

(3) The difference between the contact area between the brake shoes of the wheels on both sides and the brake drum is too large.

(4) The materials of the brake pads of the wheel brakes on both sides are different.

(5) The working conditions of the wheel brake cylinder liner on both sides are inconsistent.

(6) There is air in the wheel brake pipeline on one side of the wheel cylinder that is aging.

(7) The brake drum of one side wheel is out of round or worn too much.

(8) There is oil on the brake friction pads of the wheel brakes on one side, or the friction pads are hardened and the rivets are exposed.

(9) The brake air chamber diaphragm of the wheel brake on one side is aging and cracked, and the push connecting rod is bent and deformed.

(10) The frame, the axle is deformed or the steering system is faulty.

3. Troubleshooting

(1) Conduct a road test. When the machine needs to decelerate and brake, if the running direction deviates to the right, it means that the left wheel brake of the forklift is slow to brake or the braking force is insufficient; on the contrary, the right wheel brake is slow to brake or the braking force is insufficient. Then pass the emergency braking road test, and observe the drag marks on the ground after the wheels are locked: If the wheel drag marks on both sides of the coaxial line cannot occur at the same time, the wheels with short drag marks are slow braking and drag marks. Light for lack of braking power. At this time, find the cause of the mechanical deviation. If the inspection finds that the tire pressure on one side of the wheel is insufficient or the tire tread is too worn, and it is also on the side of the mechanical deviation, it may be caused by insufficient tire pressure or excessive tread wear. Inflate the tire first and match the tire pressure on the other side. If it is consistent, then try again. If the deviation of the brake is greatly improved, it means that the tire is insufficient and the tread is worn too much, and the new tire should be replaced.

(2) If the tires are replaced with new tires, they still deviate when braking. The reason needs to be further investigated. Support the drive axle, start the engine, increase the speed of the vehicle, then step on the brake, and observe whether the wheels on both sides brake at the same time. If the braking action is consistent at this time, it means that the brake clearance is too large

If there are traces of oil leakage in the brake pipeline of one wheel or the wheel cylinder during the inspection, first find the cause of the oil leakage. If the pipeline is broken, it needs to be repaired, the joints should be tightened if they are loose, and then the brake is exhausted. If there is air exhaust or the brake deviation disappears after exhaust, it means that the fault is caused by the air resistance of the wheel.

After the above inspections, there is no problem, indicating that the fault occurs inside the system brake, and the brake needs to be disassembled and repaired. If the friction plate is oily, it needs to be cleaned; if it is aging or the rivet is exposed, it should be replaced; if the sub-pump cup is worn or aged, it should be replaced; if the brake drum is out of round, it needs to be repaired.
