From 1979 to 1994, Komatsu responded to the call of the Chinese government to assist Chinese state-owned enterprises to carry out technological innovation, to teach Chinese enterprises the concept and methods of total quality management, and to develop technical cooperation with the Chinese construction machinery industry, providing China with a complete set of manufacturing technologies for nearly 20 models of construction machinery and industrial machinery, which laid a solid foundation for the future development of the Chinese construction machinery industry. Since 1995, Komatsu Group started to invest directly in China and established more than 20 wholly-owned and joint ventures, thus entering a new stage of development for Komatsu's business in China.
