Truck Repair Troubleshooting
Trucks inevitably have some breakdowns during long-distance transportation, and truckers often do some preliminary accident troubleshooting or repair by themselves to improve transportation efficiency. However, the characteristics of high load and high horsepower of trucks also make them exponentially more dangerous in the repair process, if you do not pay attention to the safety hazards involved, it will cause great losses in terms of personnel and property. Today we will list several safety hazards that need attention during truck maintenance.
Tire Bulge
Tire-blowing injury accidents are heard from time to time, when the internal steel wire layer of truck tires will break after long-term use of the phenomenon, if not a timely replacement of tires, the degree of damage will be more and more serious with the tire driving, and eventually formed a tire bulge. After the formation of the bulge, the tire pressure resistance will become very uneven, at this time should use the tire changer for timely replacement of tires.
Sub-Start Switch
The sub-start switch on the truck is a frequently used part when overhauling, however, when shorting the sub-start switch you need to ensure that the transmission is put into neutral, otherwise, the truck will move with the gear, and traveling without a driver in the cab will cause serious consequences.
Although some engine ECUs need to receive the neutral switch signal at present, some models still have the phenomenon of shorting the neutral switch, so it is still recommended to check the gear when using the sub-start switch.
The same ignition switch should also be taken seriously, and if the ignition switch fails and needs to be replaced, then you should do so promptly, and the cost of ignition switch replacement is acceptable.
Water Tank Cover
When the engine is running too hot, poor cooling efficiency will lead to high water tank temperatures and even the phenomenon of an open pan. At this time, avoid turning off the engine immediately (the radiator will also stop working after turning off the engine), find a safe place to stop, and then keep the engine idling to fully dissipate the heat.
Do not open the water tank cover until the tank temperature is reduced to a safe level, otherwise uncooled liquid will spill out. The correct method is to wrap the tank cover with a wet towel and slowly open the first switch (about 1/4 turn) to bring the water vapor pressure completely released before opening the tank cover.
The Right Way to Install Tires
When installing tires try to use special tools and operate in a safe environment. Some truck masters in the installation of tires are worried about the screws are not strong enough, often through the foot on the pry bar way to tighten it, which will not only cause damage to the screws, but the rebound of the pry bar may also hurt the operator.
Do Not Remove The Fuel Line Connector
With the popularity of electronically controlled engines, engine maintenance has become more complex, and the removal of fuel line fittings requires more careful handling.
Equipped with high-pressure common rail diesel engine work, its internal fuel pressure can reach up to 2000 bar or more. The pressure generated is equivalent to a car pressed on the nail cover, and the injury to the person will have unimaginable consequences. The best way is to wait for the engine to completely stop and complete the pressure relief, and then remove the fuel line.
Cab Lift Should Be Taken Seriously
When servicing a truck's engine, clutch, and transmission, it is often necessary to flip the cab over. When operating, park the vehicle on a flat road and shift the gear to neutral. Remember to lift the cab to the end, otherwise, the locking device will not work and will probably fall down under the influence of external forces. If there are people present in the engine position will cause irreparable damage.
