Basic Information of A PTO Switch

A PTO switch (power take off switch) is usually a separate drive shaft mounted on a tractor or truck that directly controls equipment mounted on the motor. The PTO switch is also called the safety switch for your protection as you must verify the conditions of your mower before riding. There are many brands of PTO switches, the more common ones are John Deere, Cub Cadet, and Ferris. The PTO absorbs a lot of energy that would otherwise be lost and passes it to other sources. This allows it to perform a range of entirely necessary tasks.

Types of the PTO switch

According to the type of work and what the chipper will be used for. The PTO switch can be divided into three categories:

1. Light duty. These chipper models are available for light duty service operations. You may need them for seasonal use. It is best to remove small waste, branches and bushes.

2. MediumIn rural areas, you may choose to have the farmer or landowner clean it on a regular basis. In terms of power size, chippers are usually 20-100 HP.

3. Heavy duty. It’s ideal for technical or commercial applications. You may be doing heavy lifting such as clearing woods or large areas with too many large tree debris and trash.

Application of the PTO switch

Run the engine water pump on the sprinkler or fire truck.

Run the hot water extractor installed for washing tapestry.

Power the blower, which is used to move dry materials such as cement.

Built-in air compressor system.

Lift wagon mat.

The mechanical arm is used by the maintenance personnel on the truck or the cable TV service crew.

The winch runs on the trailer.

The compactor runs on a scrap truck.

Boom/Scratch truck operation.

The function of the blades and lifts mounted on trucks.

Basic information of the PTO switch

Truck drives include one or two stations where PTOs are installed. The PTO needs to be purchased separately, and the physical interface of the transmitter needs to match a compatible PTO. Often PTO suppliers require details of transmission make, model and even serial number. Care must also be taken in the physical area around the transmission to facilitate the installation of the PTO switch. The PTO switch is engaged and disengaged by the primary drive buckle and a remote control system operating on the PTO switch. Air valves are commonly used to connect to the PTO, although there are alternatives using mechanical connections, electrical or hydraulic systems. In most cases, the PTO is directly connected to the hydraulic pump. This allows mechanical energy to be transferred to the brake pressure system where it is converted by the hydraulic motor into rotational or linear mechanical energy.
