Don't Neglect The Filter
In the operation of the equipment, various fluids and air are used. These fluids and air are not pure and contain more or fewer impurities. These impurities will increase the wear and tear of the equipment, so the equipment's life is shortened, so these impurities must be filtered out, which has a variety of filtration devices, such as air filters, oil filters, gasoline filters, and so on. Today we will talk about the role of these filters on the equipment and the replacement cycle.
Oil Filter
There is no doubt that the oil filter is the most important filter on the equipment, also known as the "kidney of the engine". The role of the oil is mainly to filter most of the impurities in the oil, keep the oil clean, and extend the engine's service life.
Engine work, parts of the friction surface of the metal abrasive, atmospheric dust, fuel combustion incomplete carbon particles will penetrate into the oil, the oil itself due to heat oxidation and gel-like precipitates, these impurities will be mixed in the oil. If the dirty oil is directly on the surface of the moving parts, the mechanical impurities in the oil will become abrasive, accelerating the wear of parts, and causing oil blockage and piston rings, valves, and other parts glued. Therefore, the lubrication system must be equipped with an oil filter, so that the circulation of oil in the moving parts before the surface is purified. Ensure good lubrication of the friction surface and extend its service life.
In the engine lubrication system, there are generally three kinds of filters. The first is the oil collection filter, installed in the oil pump before the oil pump to prevent large particles of impurities into the oil pump, but also to prevent early wear of the oil pump; the second is the oil coarse filter, to filter the oil particle size (diameter of 0.05-0.1mm or more) of impurities, it is less resistance to the flow of oil, generally in series between the oil pump and the main oil channel, belongs to the full-flow filter. We generally replace the filter, which refers to this kind of coarse oil filter; the third is the oil fine filter, to remove the diameter of 0.001mm above the fine impurities, due to this filter for the oil flow resistance, so more made into a split type, that is, parallel with the main oil channel, only a small amount of oil flow through the fine filter. It is generally equipped only on large diesel engines, and there are different types of classification, such as the hh150-32430 oil filter. It is not available on small vehicles, and the vast majority of them use centrifugal filtration type.
In maintenance, the oil collector filter is closed inside the oil pan, usually without special maintenance; the oil coarse filter is what we often say oil filter, in each oil change to replace; the oil fine filter is generally in the second level of maintenance to clean up can be.
Fuel Filter
A gasoline filter is a filtering device connected in series in the fuel supply line of the gasoline engine fuel supply system to filter gasoline and keep it clean to meet the engine use. Its function is to filter out the impurities and water contained in gasoline.
During the production, transportation, and storage of gasoline, it is inevitable that it will be contaminated by some dust particles, mechanical impurities, and moisture in the air. Nowadays, all gasoline engines are electronically controlled fuel injection systems, in which the parts are very precise, especially the fuel injectors, and the gap between the nozzles is very strict. If the unfiltered gasoline enters the engine, the impurities in the gasoline will wear or block the injectors, so that the injectors cannot inject fuel normally, thus affecting the work of the engine. So this unclean gasoline can not meet the normal working requirements of the engine, gasoline must be filtered before entering the engine.
Diesel Filter
The role of diesel filters and gasoline filters is the same, are filtered out the impurities and water in the fuel. The difference is that there are two diesel filters, the first is the diesel coarse filter and oil-water separator combination, which can separate the water from the diesel, and initially filter the impurities in the diesel; the second is the diesel fine filter, which can filter out the very fine impurities in the diesel, making the diesel cleaner.
The diesel filter maintenance cycle generally requires every 3,000 kilometers of oil and water separator drain, 10,000 kilometers to replace the fuel coarse filter, and 30,000 kilometers to replace the diesel fine filter. If the use of harsh environments or poor quality of diesel fuel, correspondingly shorten the replacement cycle.
Transmission Oil Filter
During the transmission, various metal chips and impurities will be produced, and these substances, if mixed in the transmission fluid for a long time, will increase the wear of the transmission. The transmission oil filter can filter out these impurities and allow clean transmission oil to be supplied to the friction surfaces. All automatic transmissions have a transmission oil filter, and some manual transmissions with forced lubrication also have a transmission oil filter (usually large trucks). Since it is hidden inside the transmission and cannot be seen or touched, many people ignore it. In many 4S stores and repair stores, the mechanics are too troublesome and only change the oil but not the filter when replacing the transmission for the customers, which is very irresponsible. If the transmission oil filter does not filter well and there are many impurities in the transmission oil, the transmission may not shift in time, shake, stutter, and other failures, and also shorten the service life of the transmission.
