How to Solve Steering System Problems?

(1) Failure phenomenon

When the forklift is driving or working, the driving direction can be controlled only when the steering wheel is turned by a large amount, and the steering wheel cannot be automatically returned to the center, and sometimes it cannot even be turned or the phenomenon of moving and not moving occurs.

(2) Cause of failure

① The amount of oil in the fuel tank is insufficient or the viscosity of the oil is too large.

② The steering gear failure is as follows:

a. The positioning spring is broken or the elasticity is insufficient.

b. The opening of the transmission pin and transmission rod is broken or deformed.

c. The relative position of the rotor and the transmission rod is wrong.

d. The safety valve is blocked or the sealing ring is damaged.

e. The cycloid motor is seriously worn.

③ The spool valve sleeve and the valve body are stuck by dirt.

④ The steering fuel pump is faulty.

⑤ There is serious leakage in the steering cylinder.

⑥ The oil pipe is broken or a joint is loose, resulting in serious leakage of oil and unable to turn.

(3) Fault diagnosis and elimination

First, check whether the oil pipes and joints in the steering system are loose, whether the pipes are broken, and check whether the oil quantity and oil quality in the oil tank meet the requirements. When the above inspections are normal, the diagnosis should be carried out step by step.

① If the steering wheel cannot be automatically centered or positioned when the steering wheel is turned, and the pressure drop at the middle position increases, it may be caused by insufficient elasticity or a broken the positioning spring in the steering gear. At this point, disassemble the steering gear and check the positioning spring. If it is finished, the elasticity is insufficient. If it is broken, it should be replaced with a new one. It is strictly forbidden to replace it with other parts.

② When turning the steering wheel. The phenomenon of pressure swing motor increases significantly, and even cannot be rotated, which may be caused by the deformation or breakage of the transmission pin in the steering gear, and the deformation or breakage of the opening of the transmission rod. At this time, the steering gear should be disassembled and the transmission pin and transmission should be checked. If the drive pin is not broken, you can place the drive pin horizontally on the wooden board to see if it is in close contact with the wooden board. If there is a gap, it is deformed and should be corrected or replaced; then look at the opening of the drive rod. Correct or replace; otherwise, it is due to poor steering operation. Repair or replace as appropriate.

When the steering gear is disassembled and reassembled, if the steering wheel rotates or swings left and right during use, it may be that the relative positions of the rotor and the transmission rod are wrongly installed, resulting in complete steering failure or inability to steer. At this time, the steering gear should be disassembled, and the teeth with punching points on the transmission connecting rod should be aligned with the teeth with punching points on the spline hole. If there is no mounting mark on the spline part of the transmission rod or the spline part of the rotor, assemble it as follows.
