Operating Principle Of Gear Pump

A pump composed of two gears meshing with each other is called a gear pump. It relies on the volume change of the meshing space of the gear teeth to transport the liquid. It belongs to the rotary pump and can also be regarded as a positive displacement pump. There are many types of gear pumps. According to the meshing method, it can be divided into external meshing gear pump and internal meshing gear pump; according to the tooth shape of gear teeth, it can be divided into spur gear pump, helical gear pump and herringbone gear pump.

Working principle and structure of gear pump

External gear pump is a widely used gear pump. Generally, gear pump usually refers to external gear pump. Its structure is mainly composed of driving gear, driven gear, pump body, pump cover and safety valve. The sealed space formed by the pump body, the pump cover and the gear is the working chamber of the gear pump. The axles of the two gears are respectively installed in the bearing holes on the two pump covers, and the driving gear shaft extends out of the pump body and is driven to rotate by the motor. The external gear pump has the advantages of simple structure, light weight, low cost, reliable operation and wide application range.

When the gear oil pump is working, the driving wheel rotates with the motor and drives the driven wheel to rotate along with it. When the meshing teeth on one side of the suction chamber are gradually separated, the volume of the suction chamber increases and the pressure decreases, and the liquid in the suction pipe is sucked into the pump; the suction liquid is pushed to the discharge chamber by gears in two ways in the tooth slot. After the liquid enters the discharge chamber, due to the continuous meshing of the teeth of the two gears, the liquid is squeezed from the discharge chamber into the discharge pipe. The driving gear and the driven gear rotate continuously, and the pump can continuously suck in and discharge the liquid.

The pump body is equipped with a hydraulic valve. When the discharge pressure exceeds the specified pressure, the conveying liquid can automatically open the safety valve, so that the high-pressure liquid returns to the suction pipe.

The internal gear pump is composed of a pair of internal gears meshing with each other, a crescent part between them, a pump casing, and the like. The function of the crescent is to separate the suction and discharge chambers. When the driving gear rotates, a localized true is formed where the gears disengage

When empty, the liquid is sucked into the pump to fill the teeth of the suction chamber, and then enters the discharge chamber in two ways along the inner and outer sides of the crescent. Where the gear teeth come into mesh, the liquid present between the teeth is squeezed and fed into the discharge pipe.

In addition to the characteristics of self-priming ability, the flow rate has nothing to do with the discharge pressure, etc., the gear pump has no suction valve and discharge valve on the pump casing. It has the characteristics of simple structure, uniform flow and reliable operation, but it has low efficiency, large noise and vibration, and is easy to wear. , used to transport various oils that are non-corrosive, non-solid particles and have lubricating ability, the temperature generally does not exceed 70' ℃, such as lubricating oil, edible vegetable oil, etc. The general flow range is 0.045-30ms/h, the pressure range is 0.7-20MPa, and the working speed is 1200-4000r/min.
