The function of the fuel filter is to prevent particles, water and impurities in the fuel, and to ensure that the fuel system parts are protected from wear and other damage. There are three types of fuel filters: diesel filters, gasoline filters and natural gas filters.
How often to change the fuel filter?
The recommended replacement cycle of the fuel filter should vary according to its own structure, performance and use, and cannot be generalized. Most manufacturers recommend a replacement cycle of 48,000 km for normal maintenance of their external filters; the recommended replacement cycle for conservative maintenance is 19,200 to 24,000 km. If in doubt, consult the owner's manual to find the correct recommended replacement interval. In addition, when the filter hose is aged or cracked due to dirt such as mud dust and engine oil, it needs to be replaced in time.
How to clean the fuel filter?
Step 1: Locate the fuel filter
Before cleaning your fuel filter, make sure you know where the fuel filter is located. The location of the fuel filter in each vehicle is usually different, depending on the type of vehicle. The fuel filter flows into the carburetor or injection system. If it's correct then you can reorder to reach it.
Step 2: Make sure no fuel is exposed in the sprayer
To do maintenance on your car's fuel filter, you can try opening the clamp in the fuel line, usually 4 inches from the hose outlet to the inlet. The clamp should also be tightened using a flathead screwdriver. You can then close the hose with a clamp, this will ensure no fuel is sprayed.
Step 3: Prepare a container under the filter
When cleaning the fuel filter, you can prepare a container and place it under the fuel filter. You can then uncap the clip and attach the filter to the hose. When opening and closing the clamp, the hose on the filter can be pulled to allow the fuel to drain. If you removed all the hoses then drain any remaining fuel.
Step 4: Start cleaning the fuel filter
Hold the fuel filter section first and insert the hose into it. Then spray the fuel filter with a special fluid. Please fix the injection nozzle on the spray part, insert the other end into the filter for spraying. To get everything in and out of the bottle, you have to repeat this step from both ends.
Step 5: Tapping filter surface
You can tap the filter surface, or you can press the handle with a screwdriver to make sure you hit all the circles on the face of the car's fuel filter properly.
Step 6: Spray again and dry
Then it can be sprayed again, and the fuel filter can be sprayed with a spray device. If the oil has spread, make sure to let the fuel filter dry for about an hour.
Step 7: Install the filter back
If the fuel filter is clean, you can install it back. Make sure it is installed correctly so that the fuel filter can perform optimally.
