What is fuel filter

The oil circulates perfectly in the engine and the fuel filter prevents contaminants in the engine oil without interrupting the lubrication process. Oil filters are suitable for different types of hydraulic machinery. The device is used in internal combustion engines of on- and off-road motor vehicles. Oil filters are very important in modern internal combustion engines to provide top-notch lubrication for seamless operation. Its function is to remove the solid impurities contained in the fuel, prevent the fuel system from clogging (especially the fuel injector), reduce mechanical wear, and ensure the stable operation of the engine.

Types of fuel filters

1. According to the type of fuel, fuel filters can be divided into three categories: diesel filters, fuel filters, and gas filters.

2. According to filter grade:

Cartridge oil filter: Cartridge oil filters are sometimes called eco-oil filters. This type of filter is the most common, full-flow element with no metal parts and can be easily recycled in many cases. At the same time, because of its shape as a tube, it is also relatively easy to use and replace.
Spin-on oil filter: Unlike the cartridge filter, its design does not incorporate an all-environmental concept. It uses steel tanks and paper filter elements. It is easier to replace than the cartridge type, and hardly any complicated tools are required.
Secondary oil filter: Its role is to support the vehicle's full-flow filter. This filter cleans less than 10% of the oil used in your car's engine and removes contaminants that the main filter may miss. Secondary oil filters add an extra layer of engine protection and can easily extend the life of your oil. 3. According to the filtering method, fuel filters are divided into two types:

One is external, generally located in the lower part of the chassis. The other is built-in, located in the fuel tank. The two are only different in the installation position, but the effect is still the same. In addition, the external type is divided into two types: ordinary straight-in direct type and one with an oil return line. For different vehicles, the replacement cycle of the fuel filter is different. You need to check the vehicle maintenance manual for details. If the fuel quality is not good, the replacement cycle can be shortened.
