What Is A Stop Solenoid?

What is an engine stop solenoid

The engine stop solenoid valve in construction machinery is an electromagnetic device that cuts off the fuel supply to the engine and forces the engine to stop working. The working principle of the engine stop solenoid valve is that when the equipment is in normal operation, the circuit is closed, thereby sealing the anti-fuel passage on the main pipe of the automatic shutdown emergency shutoff, so that the oil pressure in the lower cavity of the piston of all steam actuators is increased.

When the diesel engine stop solenoid is de-energized and opened, the main pipe will drain oil, causing all steam valves to be closed and the steam turbine to stop. Solenoid valves are arranged in series and parallel so that there are multiple protections. Each channel has at least one solenoid valve open to cause a shutdown. The fuel stop solenoid is usually located at the inlet of the fuel injection pump or in the fuel line before the fuel injection pump.

Idle stop solenoid

The idle solenoid valve is the actuator in the idle speed adjustment system of the vehicle. It is used to adjust the idle speed to ensure that the engine emission meets the standard and maintains the stable operation of the engine. At the same time, keeping the engine idle speed at the lowest speed can effectively reduce fuel consumption.

The working principle of the idle solenoid: The idle speed control valve is powered by the ignition switch. As long as the ignition switch is turned to “on”, the idle stop solenoid is energized, and the engine computer controls its circuit to ground. If the electromagnetic suction force generated by the coil exceeds the elastic force of the return spring, the valve shaft will drive the valve core to move upwards and open the bypass pipe. When the electromagnetic coil is de-energized, the valve shaft and the valve core are reset under elastic action, and the bypass air duct is closed. The electromagnetic force generated by the coil will determine the opening of the control valve. The ECU also controls the magnetic field strength by controlling the proportion of the pulse signal input to the coil, thereby adjusting the opening of the control valve and realizing the control of the idle air volume.

Can a solenoid be cleaned

Solenoid valve cleaning and disassembly steps:

1. When the car is cold, press the exhaust valve of the hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure.

2. Find the hexagon socket bolt at the bottom and loosen it with a wrench. During the loosening process, both sides need to be loosened at the same time. Do not loosen one side completely before loosening the other side.

NOTE: Oil will come out during removal.

Cleaning with non-aggressive cleaning agents is recommended. Gasoline ball valves and solenoid valves can be cleaned with gasoline. Other parts can generally be cleaned with reclaimed water. When cleaning, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the remaining dust, oil, and other attachments. If it cannot be cleaned with clean water, it can be cleaned with alcohol and other cleaning agents on the premise of not damaging the valve body and parts. After cleaning, wait until the equipment is completely dry before assembling.
