What Is a Diesel Engine Starter Motor?

The diesel engine starter motor is mainly composed of three parts: a transmission mechanism, an electromagnetic switch and a DC motor. The working principle of the starter motor is to convert the electrical energy of the battery into mechanical energy, drive the flywheel ring gear on the diesel engine to rotate, and start the diesel engine. The main function of the starter motor is to start the diesel engine. It needs sufficient starting speed and torque to drive the diesel engine to ignite the fuel.


How Does a Diesel Engine Starter Motor Work?

The DC motor on the starter motor generates electromagnetic torque. The transmission mechanism meshes the driving gear of the starter motor with the flywheel ring gear. And the torque of the DC motor of the starter motor was transmitted to the flywheel ring gear of the diesel engine. This drives the crankshaft of the diesel engine to rotate, thereby driving each component of the diesel engine into a working cycle until the diesel engine starts normally.
